Before grisly celebrity death photos became immediately accessible to the online world, many of the most mysterious cases were left with few facts and even less explanation. Below are interesting celebrity deaths, though all in all, the horror of losing a bright star usually leaves one with a bad taste in one's mouth.Īside from the cases you likely already know of - the Michael Jacksons and Whitney Houstons of the celebrity underworld - there are many stories you may have never heard of. There are famous deaths by misadventure, and tragedies that would likely have been terribly embarrassing to the celebs. Dead celebrities often remain a household name well past their passing, and some are more infamous for their death than their life's best work. For example, whether Natalie Wood's death was a mystery or a murder has long been a topic of contention within the true crime community. However, weird celebrity deaths seem to inspire a unique sort of fascination, one deeply rooted in the creepy and conspiratorial. While many Hollywood stars pass well into old age with grace, there are plenty of peculiar cases in which the famous perish under violent, mysterious, gruesome, or bizarre circumstances.ĭespite our best judgment, celebrity deaths captivate audiences just as much as the performer did when they were alive - sometimes even more so. Living life under the scrutiny of the tabloids' limelight often pushes celebrities to the brink of self-destruction. Celebrity deaths have always sparked curiosity among the public.

In this book, Bhutto explores the complicated history between the Middle East and the West. She was a renaissance woman who offered a way out. With her experience governing Pakistan and living and studying in the West, Benazir Bhutto was versed in the complexities of the conflict from both sides. She believed that by enabling dictators, the West was actually contributing to the frustration and extremism that lead to terrorism. Bhutto persuasively argues that America and Britain are fueling this turn toward radicalization by supporting groups that serve only short-term interests. With extremist Islam on the rise throughout the world, the peaceful, pluralistic message of Islam has been exploited and manipulated by fanatics. In Reconciliation, Bhutto recounts in gripping derail her final months in Pakistan and offers a bold new agenda for how to stem the tide of Islamic radicalism and to rediscover the values of tolerance and justice that lie at the heart of her religion. But she continued to forge ahead, with more courage and conviction than ever, since she knew that time was running out - for the future of her nation, and for her life. Upon a tumultuous reception, she survived a suicide-bomb attack that killed nearly two hundred of her countrymen. Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan in October 2007, after eight years of exile, hopeful that she could be a catalyst for change. Most modern work – including the events and communications industry – involves the ability to see the context and the bigger picture and applying knowledge to ever-changing scenarios. This book shines a light on the importance of broad experience and lateral thinking, where you connect previous realisations – old knowledge – to new scenarios. So many dots in the world are not connected because the lines are fixed into boxes. But often an outsider will bring the innovation. The commercial world is very adamant on the notion that hyperspecialized experts drive innovation and growth. Range of mind, range of sources, range of interests, range of vision and understanding. This book encourages you to take off your blinders and learn from others, experimentalise, get off the beaten path and gain range. If you, on the other hand, wish to be an expert of something complex, an unkind environment dependent on human behaviour, you will have to diversify and seek knowledge and experiences in many different fields. David Epstein argues that this is true if you want to be an expert in a very kind, unchanging field. It is a common saying that if you practice something for more than 10,000 hours you will become an expert at it. “Range – How Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World” is a book written by David Epstein, which was shortlisted for the Business Book of the Year in 2019. Peter Cerrigan, their family solicitor, smiled at the three Blake brothers, his smile kind and understanding. Eric and Jules said together, voicing his confusion. Liam refuses to believe he’s that sick: related alphas and omegas can’t be drawn to each other or get fixated on their sibling’s scent. Liam Blake stared at the man, wondering if he was hearing things. There’s no reason to think he isn’t who he says he is-except for Liam’s strange, inexplicable attraction to the man who claims to be Anthony. He has documents that prove his identity, and he has Anthony’s dark hair, blue eyes, and broad shoulders. He remembers adoring him and remembers missing him, but his childhood memories faded as he grew up.įifteen years later, a man who calls himself Anthony Blake finally comes home after the war ends. The last time Liam Blake saw his eldest brother, Liam was five and Anthony was sixteen. But if he isn’t? They’re even more wrong. Illicit (The Wrong Alpha #3) by Alessandra Hazard – Free eBooks Download Kate’s boyfriend is not happy that she agrees, but in she goes. Given that Kate grew up in an Amish family until she left and was “excommunicated” from the family, she knows the way of the Amish, and the NYPD cops think she is the perfect person to go undercover and figure out what really happened to the girl who died, along with uncovering what is going on in the town that so many have been cast out and disappeared. So much that when I read the description of the bishop, I immediately thought of Charlie Manson. The town is isolated-to a ridiculous degree- by a megalomaniac bishop who watches over his followers in an almost fanatical fashion. There is an Amish settlement there and the troubling death of a 15 year old girl who was found dead in a snowstorm. This time around, Kate gets a visit from the far outer reaches of the NYPD. I would recommend this series to any mystery fan. Kate Burkholder, her staff at the PD, and her tormented lover John Tomasetti are solid characters through and through. I love to read all things Amish though, because they are a fascinating people. I almost moved to Lancaster in 1995 with Biceps…. I have loved the Amish since I don’t know when. I have read every book on this series, based around Painters Mill, Ohio, an Amish town. It kills me that I had to give this fine author less than 4 stars. What I found most remarkable is Caldwell’s ability to avoid seeming overly sentimental as she describes the deep friendship shared by these women, even as she captures how remarkable (and enviable) this friendship was. The writing is clear, and the writer is honest and insightful. The book is also about dogs, and the nature of story-telling, and alcoholism, and rowing…and I’m not particularly interested in dogs or rowing, yet I loved this book. Let’s Take the Long Way Home by Gail Caldwell is a memoir about the friendship between two women, one of whom dies quite suddenly and definitely too soon. Instead of shopping like a “normal” American, I spent the days after Thanksgiving reading, and I felt fortunate to find two excellent books, that I highly recommend: Users are advised to contact the source organisation to discuss appropriate reuse. There's a nameless dissatisfaction in Dex driving this yearning for movement and change, which they articulate to themselves as a desire to hear the fabled sound of crickets. After spending their youth as a Garden Monk, Dex abruptly changes vocation: They decide to become a Tea Monk, travelling from place to place and offering relief to the weary one brewed cup at a time. Generations after that decision, Sibling Dex leads a good, comfortable life in a good, comfortable world, one that successfully bounced back from terrible environmental cataclysms and reorganized itself around principles of compassion and hospitality. The robots chose to vanish into the wilderness in order to learn about a world beyond the bounds of human design. Becky Chambers' A Psalm for the Wild-Built - beginning a new series called "Monk and Robot" - strikes me as especially relevant to such discussions.Ĭenturies ago, robots woke to sentience and went on strike, and the humans who made them as laboring tools decided to respect their newfound agency and release them. Over the past several months, given the pressures of the world, I've been reading and participating in craft conversations about what constitutes comfort-reading, and the degree to which one can subtract conflict or tension from a story while keeping it engaging and interesting. A Psalm for the Wild-Built, by Becky Chambers The ending feels a bit rushed and sloppy, with many plot holes that make the various conclusions seem unlikely. In conclusion, I feel that the letter clearly indicates that James is alive, although I cannot seem to work out the logistics. Not to mention how that passage is foreshadowed in earlier scenes. However, the letter seems like such a deliberate and clear message to Oliver, and I cannot imagine why James would have chosen that passage if he intended to die. This answer contains spoilers (view spoiler) 29 likes like. Just like the sparrow, he fled to somewhere guilt-free. Why would he just suddenly decide he needed to fake his own death? If it were not for the letter, I would assume James committed suicide due to his guilt. One metaphor comes frequently in the novel, which James/Richard is described as a sparrow in Hamlet. Oliver was only 4 years away from being released, and there was no threat of James going to prison for the murder or anything like that. On the other hand, it doesn’t make much sense for James to fake his death. It would have only tortured Oliver with false hope, and surely James would have understood the context of the letter and how Oliver would interpret that. I’m inclined to believe that James is still alive, as it doesn’t seem to fit with his character to leave that note for Oliver if he was intending to die. Just finished reading this and wanted to hear other’s opinions on the rather ambiguous ending. |
